A masked date
The conversation opens for you, and looks are not judged.
Introverts
If you are good in conversation but stuck at the beginning of one, you are not unusual. Most apps reward precisely the skill you do not have, and that is fixable.
An app whose first step is writing a brilliant opening line to a stranger rewards confidence rather than compatibility. It does not measure whether you will get on with somebody, it measures how easy you find it to approach them.
Those are two entirely different abilities, and plenty of people excellent at the first are weak at the second. That is not a flaw, it is simply a trait the format punishes.
The answer is not to practise opening lines. It is to find a place where the beginning is already built in.
A masked date: you do not open a conversation, the conversation opens. The system pairs two people who are both looking for one at that moment, and five minutes begin with both sides hidden. There is no moment of "what do I write now", and no judgement on looks. While you type, the picture shrinks and moves up rather than disappearing, so you keep seeing the person.
The WinMe competition: here there is full structure. A host asks and you answer, on video, by voice or in writing. You do not have to start anything, only answer a question, which is exactly the part you find easy. Until the final everybody is anonymous, so what gets judged is what you said.
A good opening line is not brilliant, it is specific. It refers to one thing in the profile and proves you read it. That is the whole trick, and you can write it slowly and quietly, and nobody can see it took you ten minutes.
Do not send many. Ten written to a specific person beat a hundred generic ones, and that also matches your pace.
And once a chat opens, you can move to a voice call before video. Voice is a comfortable middle step for anyone the camera makes tense.

You answer a question rather than start a conversation.
A middle step for anyone the camera makes tense.
Not something brilliant, something specific. A question about a place in a photo or a line in the description. It proves you read it, and that is what produces a reply.
Two. A masked date pairs two people and starts the conversation itself, and the WinMe competition lets you answer questions rather than initiate.
Yes. You can set it to be revealed only after a mutual match, and in a masked date both sides are hidden anyway until you choose otherwise.
Start with a voice call. The same pass covers voice and video, and you can talk without a camera as long as you like before switching.
