What is inside, and why it is there
Every feature here answers a familiar complaint about dating apps. Nothing was added because there was room on the screen.
Voice calls
Sometimes video is too much too soon. A voice call is a comfortable middle step: you hear the laugh, the pace, the hesitation, without having to get ready first.
Masked dating
Five minutes of video with both sides hidden. The mask comes off only if you both choose it. Anyone who is always judged on looks gets a different kind of chance here.
Live translation
Captions written as you speak and translated into the other person’s language. You can hold a whole date with somebody who does not share a word of yours.
Consent before messages
Nobody can message you without permission. Every approach starts as a single request with one opening line, and you decide. There is no way to flood you.
Radar with protected location
You see who is nearby, and nobody can work out where you are. Your position snaps to a grid of about 150 metres before any distance is calculated from it.
The WinMe competition
A dating game in the style of a reality show, with challenges, rose ceremonies and a live final. Meeting people becomes an evening out instead of a list of chats.

WinMe: dating as a game, not as a form
A host opens a competition and sets the challenges. Contestants answer on video, by voice or in writing, and after each round a rose ceremony narrows the group. Until the final nobody sees a name or a photograph, so what gets judged is what people say.
The golden rose
Once per competition, the host can award a golden rose. Whoever holds it is guaranteed a place in the final and cannot be sent home by any ceremony after that. It is the moment that turns the evening.
The host builds it
Questions, video challenges, voice challenges, entry conditions for age and distance, and a schedule. Recorded answers run up to two minutes.
Contestants answer
On video, as a voice recording, as a photograph or in writing. Profiles stay anonymous, with no name and no picture.
Rose ceremony
After each round the host hands out roses. Anyone without one leaves. Anyone holding the golden rose stays.
The final, live
Profiles are revealed and a five-minute video call takes place. At the end both sides choose whether it is a match. Nobody is obliged to anything.
Safety and privacy as mechanism, not as a promise
A distance-based dating app is a dangerous instrument if it is built carelessly. Here is what we did in the code, described in enough detail that you can judge it.
Your exact position never leaves the device
An app that publishes an exact distance and an exact bearing lets somebody stand in three places, note three readings and calculate an address. The attack is called trilateration and it has worked on large, well-known dating apps. Here your position snaps to a fixed grid of about 150 metres before anything is computed from it, and bearings are rounded to 15 degrees. The snap is deterministic, so repeated readings return the same value and cannot be averaged out.
Private mode
One switch that takes you off everybody’s radar. You keep browsing and approaching; nobody sees you. Particularly useful in a small town.
Automatic image screening
Every profile photograph and every piece of media sent in a competition is checked before it is stored. Anything identified as nude or sexual is refused and never stored at all, so it is never shown to anybody. Three refusals suspend the account.
Minors: zero tolerance
Sign-up is blocked below 18 on the server, not only in the interface. Any suspicion of content involving a minor suspends the account immediately, on the first occasion, with no warning ladder.

Is TOKME free?
The download is free and there is no monthly subscription. Certain actions, such as sending a contact request or opening a chat, cost credits bought once in a pack. Once a chat is open, the messages themselves are unlimited and free.
Why credits instead of a subscription?
A subscription charges you for the months you never opened the app, and it renews without asking. Credits pay for an action you actually took, never expire, and whatever you do not spend waits for you.
What is a masked date?
A five-minute video call with both sides behind a mask. You get to know the person first, and the masks come off only if you both choose it. If the other person leaves partway through you get a no-match notice and go straight back to searching.

How does TOKME protect my location?
Your exact position is never sent to another user. Before any calculation it snaps to a grid of about 150 metres and the bearing is rounded to 15 degree segments, so no address can be reconstructed from it. You can also switch to private mode and disappear from the radar entirely.
Can I talk to somebody who speaks another language?
Yes. Video and voice calls carry live captions with automatic translation, so each side reads the other in their own language. Captions can be switched off at any moment, and the audio stops being sent immediately.
Can people message me without my approval?
No. Every approach begins as a single contact request with one opening line, and you choose to accept, decline, or decline and block. A block is final: that person cannot approach you again and will not appear in your search.
What is the minimum age?
18. The check runs on the server and not only in the interface, and an account found to belong to a minor is deleted permanently.
When will the app be available to download?
TOKME is in the final stages of app store review. Leave an email address in the form at the bottom of this page and you will hear on the day it goes live, along with a free credit pack for early sign-ups.
How do I delete my account?
From the profile screen inside the app there is a permanent deletion that runs immediately. You can also request deletion through the dedicated page on this site. Deletion removes your profile, photographs, messages, requests and credit balance, and cannot be undone.
