After divorce

Starting again after divorce

Two things define this stage: free time is scarce and planned in advance, and the question of what to say and when hangs over every conversation. Both are manageable.

When are you actually ready

There is no number, and whoever gives one is inventing it. The only practical sign worth looking for is this: do you talk about the divorce because you were asked, or because you need to.

If the second, that is completely fine, it is simply not the time yet. If the first, you are probably readier than you think.

And you do not have to be entirely ready to have a conversation. You can start at whatever pace suits you and stop whenever you want.

Time, and the filtering it demands

A free evening after a divorce is not time that appeared, it is time that was organised: around custody arrangements, work, and a babysitter. An evening spent on a date that was obviously pointless from the start hurts differently.

So ten or twenty minutes on video before arranging anything is not clinical, it is sensible. It tells you what a whole date would have told you at a tenth of the cost.

On TOKME the call is inside the app, without handing over a phone number. If you decide not to continue, no channel to you remains open.

Children, privacy, and what is visible before an approach

Relationship status is a profile field and can be filtered on the radar. That saves the awkward conversation in the fifth message and filters out in advance anybody it does not suit.

On privacy: social circles cross constantly here. If you would rather your profile did not appear to people you know, private mode takes you off everybody’s radar, and you can set your photograph to be revealed only after a mutual match.

And about the children themselves: there is no need for any detail about them in a profile. That they exist, yes. That they are identifiable, no.

What helps at this stage

Status stated openly

Frequently asked questions

When am I ready to start again?

There is no number. The practical sign: if you talk about the divorce because you were asked rather than because you need to, it is probably time.

Should my profile say I have children?

It is worth being visible, because it saves both sides time. No identifying detail about them is needed. Relationship status is a profile field and can be filtered on.

I do not want people I know to see me there.

Private mode takes you off everybody’s radar while you keep browsing and approaching. You can also set your photograph to be revealed only after a mutual match, and blocking removes a specific person permanently.

When do I talk about the divorce?

Let the fact be visible early and the story arrive late. Relationship status on the profile handles the first, and the second can wait for a third or fourth conversation.

The address is used for the launch notice and nothing else. We will not pass it on, and you can leave the list at any time.
