Who is in Herzliya
The technology district brings a large population in their twenties and thirties, including a considerable number of people who came here for work from abroad and people here for a fixed period. That produces a relatively international pool and a high proportion of English speakers.
For anybody who moved to Israel for a job, this is one of the easiest places to start: a lot of the social life around the technology district happens in English, and a fair number of people are in exactly the same position.
It also means some introductions here cross a language, which is why translated captions in calls are useful. You can hold an entire date with somebody who does not speak Hebrew.
Where to meet the first time
The Herzliya marina is a pleasant place for a first meeting, public and with plenty of options within walking distance.
The city centre and Sokolov Street are simpler and more compact, and sometimes that is exactly what you want the first time.
The beach works well for a short afternoon meeting.
Distance, and what it means here
Herzliya sits between Tel Aviv and the Sharon, which is an advantage: Tel Aviv is about fifteen minutes, Ra’anana and Kfar Saba about the same, and Ramat HaSharon is immediately adjacent.
That means a moderate range here opens a large pool in both directions.
Even so, a video call before arranging anything saves an evening, short drive or not.
